Kim and Shannon are expecting their 3rd baby and wanted to have some fun with revealing the gender of their newest addition to the family.
So, when Kim asked me to do a mini session with them and take a few pictures of the family together as a gender reveal session, I was excited to be with them during such a fun time for their family!
Here are a handful of pictures from our little afternoon at Dorthea Dix in Raleigh. We ended with a funny sequence of Presley and Palmer goofing around on top of the picnic table.

Kellsie and Jason's Wedding
Kellsie and Jason's wedding was our final wedding of 2012 and it was such a great day to finish our weddings for the year. Amaree and I met with Kellsie to talk through her wedding day plans and it was exciting to see how it all came together. Kellsie did a lot of the decorations herself and everything looked amazing!
Their wedding was at All Saints Chapel in Raleigh, which is becoming quite the hot spot for weddings and I can understand why. Once you step inside you fall in love with it, so I was thrilled to celebrate Kellsie and Jason's day there!
I like to start with my favorite picture of the day. I loved how casual Kellsie and Jason were sitting on the steps of the alter, sneaking a kiss with their unity candle giving them just a hint of light. Love it!

Kellsie is a stylist at Tanas Hair Salon, so her friends at the salon did the hair and makeup for the bridesmaids and mothers. Kellsie was surrounded by so many friends as she got ready that morning! It was a blast hanging out with all the girls and hearing stories as everyone got ready.
Jason and his groomsmen got dressed at the chapel and all had a few laughs as they were all squished into one room together. It was crowded, but hey, there's got to be some fun in tight quarters with a bunch of men, right? The groomsmen gift was a sweet, old school pocket watch. Love it!
Amaree and I like to take pictures of special details of the day. The dress. The shoes. The flowers. The rings. Here are my favorites. We love love love the checkered floor in the chapel.
Kellsie's dress was amazing. The lace overlays, the open back, the neckline. It all matched her perfectly.
One of my favorite times to take pictures is of the chapel before guests arrive and then taking pictures of the guests as they're welcomed into the chapel. Friends seeing each other, families saying hi, it's fun seeing the reunions unfold.
I took pictures in the balcony while Amaree was downstairs on the main level. It was Amaree's idea to take pictures through the keyholes in the balcony railing and they turned out awesome. I had fun playing around with different vantage points while I was in the balcony. All the while, Kellsie and Jason are getting married! So amazing that Amaree and I get to be part of such a special day in their lives. :)
Just after they kissed, I (quietly) ran downstairs to catch a few pictures of them as they walked down the aisle. I turned and snapped the picture of Jason escorting Kellsie out the front door with his hand on her lower back. Love it.
We can't have a wedding without pictures of the groomsmen, bridesmaids, and the bride and groom!
As we were taking pictures of Kellsie and Jason upstairs, the party was beginning downstairs! As soon as Kellsie and Jason were introduced, the dancing began! Kellsie and Jason started off the night, quickly followed by the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance. I love how Kellsie's dad and Jason's mom are just beaming, so proud and happy for Kellsie and Jason.
The wedding cake was decorated with music notes as a token for Jason, a pretty amazing saxaphone player. If I'm remembering correctly, Kellsie met Jason after she saw him play!
Jason and Greg are The Social Designers, a pretty amazing jazz duo. We were treated with a few songs and everyone had a blast dancing along to their music.
Dancing the night away!
To close out the day, guests lined the steps leading out of the chapel with sparklers! I loved how Jason and Kellsie sneaked this kiss before dashing into the car!
